Data protection and Data Sharing is a complex and challenging topic that is constantly evolving. At its core we must practise the ‘Do no harm’ principle: it is our responsibility as IMOs to ensure that the information we store, analyse and share does not adversely affect the people we serve. 

Therefore, please discuss potential sensitivity of information with the Cluster Coordinator, but also ensure transparent communication with your CLA focal points, partners and interested stakeholders, incorporating and respecting theirs views on data protection and sensitivity. 

The next sections will cover the Core Principles of Data Protection (4.5.1.) and then specifically the standards for Data Sharing (4.5.2.).
