The humanitarian field is constantly evolving to serve the communities in a timely manner with dignity. The efficiency of our contribution to a crisis response is enhanced by our knowledge of the humanitarian structures at global level, coordination mechanisms, including the cluster system and its underlying principles and frameworks.
This chapter provides background information to support the Food Security Cluster (FSC) Coordinator in understanding the coordination role in the broader context of humanitarian action and reform. While the response to food security emergencies is implemented at country level, it is informed by and takes place within a larger global context of guidelines (or policies), standards, actors, and frameworks.
